This was originally the blog of my gap year, where I spent 7 months volunteering for the Red Cross in Lautoka, Fiji.  That was a year ago.

Now I have just finished my first year of medical school, and have decided to travel to Francistown, Botswana to undertake a voluntary placement at a local hospital. Botswana is in many ways the success story of Africa, having an exemplary healthcare system and the best ARV program in Africa.
